WORSHIPING YHWH THROUGH SPORTS

Sports. It's not too difficult to see that it has a "dark side." But what if YHWH was in the process of redeeming sports? And what if He desired us to be light in the darkness? What if YHWH's intent was that in whatever we do--including competing in sports--we do it all as a means to declare and display the significance of Who He is? The author believes this is God's objective, and that is her purpose of writing WORSHIPING YHWH THROUGH SPORTS. As you consider what it means to worship God through sports, you will be challenged to allow your sports field or court to become a sacred place where you experience Life with YHWH and shine brightly for Him as you coach or play ball.

Each of the seven characteristic is are intentionally brief so that the reader will take time to consider the trait, allow the Holy Spirit to search one's heart, then, by drawing upon Christ as his or her Source of Life, put it into practice in such a way that it becomes a habit.

REAL LIFE IS LIKE SPORTS

Respectable teachers throughout history have taught through parables and word pictures—using that which was familiar in people’s everyday life.  For example, Jesus painted word pictures of casting nets and catching fish for those familiar with fishing.  And to those well acquainted with farming, He spoke of planting seed, watering and harvesting... By illustrating His message through parables or word pictures, Jesus pointed people to another Reality--one which was hidden, yet visible to those who had “eyes to see” and “ears to hear.”  One such hidden, yet visible Reality is the Real Life for which each of us was created. With this in mind, the author has wondered at times what Jesus would say today if He were to speak to a group of coaches or athletes.  What word pictures or parables might He use to reveal what this hidden, yet visible life is really like?  In REAL LIFE IS LIKE SPORTS, the author sets forth several possible illustrations and stories.
